Cress by Marissa Meyer

Rapunzel’s tower is a satellite. She can’t let down her hair—or her guard.
In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

All I can say is "wow". There is a whole list of compliments I can say about what Marissa Meyer has done with this series so far, but the bottom line is she has me addicted. Cress was a twist on Rapunzel, so there’s Cinderella, Red Riding hood and Rapunzel story twists in this series now. The plot twists she’s taken the reader on, the strong characters, the attractive guys and the fantastic remake on these classic fairy tales are what I’ve loved most.

And: HOLY MOTHER OF CLIFFHANGERS. Cress left me off with my mouth hanging open because I just wasn’t prepared. I was interestingly surprised that she left off with the biggest battle yet to come up. LOVED the way she wrote the books like that where I’m always so ready for the next one.

The boys once again…*sighs* So great as always. Not gonna lie though, Prince Kai was slightly irritating at times but only for the reason that I want him and Cinder to be together since the first book pretty much.

Really this book was amazing in all the ways that I’ve talked about in my previous reviews for the series and always so interesting with the different turns Meyer takes. This series has kept me on my toes and if you’ve liked the other Lunar Chronicles books, than you'll love this one!

If you'd like to start from the beginning, you can read my reviews of book one, Cinder, and book two, Scarlet

  1. I haven't read Scarlet! But I did read Cinder a few years ago, and enjoyed it. I think I liked it, but I wasn't invested enough to continue with the series. Either way, I won't be finishing this series anytime soon... no matter how good all the bloggers (including you) make this particular book sound O_O In the future, I'll re-read and binge-read the series! Definitely after Winter comes out, because CLIFFHANGERS. I can't stand them! Though I totally understand their purpose.

    Anyway, fabulous review, Amanda!
