Alliance by Mark Frost

Readers of I Am Number Four, The Maze Runner, and Legend will love this sophisticated adventure series by the co-creator of the groundbreaking television show Twin Peaks, with its unique combination of mystery, heart-pounding action, and the supernatural.

After exposing the sinister underground society of students known as the Knights of Charlemagne, Will West stays at the Center over the summer to explore his newly developing physical and mental abilities. Meanwhile, his roommates investigate the Knights' shadowy purpose and discover unsettling information about their own backgrounds. Will and his friends must quickly figure out what's going on and separate friend from foe as they prepare for the coming fight.

Alliance captivated me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. I didn't read the first book in this series first, but this book was still very enjoyable. The supernatural story offers lots of mystery and excitement--my heart was beating harder during the action scenes. The story is slightly confusing at times and can be a little creepy. Somewhat similar to the Lorien Legacies.  I highly recommend this book for boys and girls ages 12 and up.  Thank you to Random House for Young Readers for this great book!

  1. Hmmm, I haven't read the Lorien Legacies! I didn't even go see I am Number Four D: Nevertheless, this one sounds good! Creepy works! And that's always a plus when you can't seem to take yourself away from a book, and it gets you to that state of excitement. I'll have to keep my eye out for this book! Fabulous review, Lily :)

  2. I got an arc of the first book at SDCC in 2012 and was surprised that it didn't get more of a push because it was so amazing. The sequel is just as good.

    Excellent review, Lily!!

  3. Alyssa - I haven't read the Lorien Legacies either...but I did see I am Number Four because Alex Pettyfer is in it. It might just be worth it for that reason alone ;)

Stacee - So glad to hear you enjoyed it as well! I may need to look into stocking it in the store.
