The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise & giveaway!

In The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise, super-smart, somewhat geeky Audrey McCarthy can’t wait to get out of high school. Her father’s death and the transformation of her one-time BFF, Blake Dawkins, into her worst nightmare have her longing for the new start college will bring.
But college takes money. So Audrey decides she has to win the competition for the best app designed by a high schooler—and the $200,000 that comes with it. She develops something she calls the Boyfriend App, and suddenly she’s the talk of the school and getting kissed by the hottest boys around. But can the Boyfriend App bring Audrey true love?

Once again, I was very happy with a cute and funny contemporary book. The main crush, Aidan, was different from other boys that I've read in romancy books like these. He was a more quiet boy, but around Audrey, the main character, he was more open and of course HOT. There were many boys involved in this book (due to the title, you can imagine) and it made it a lot more interesting. There weren't any love triangles in it, thank goodness, which made it a lot more enjoyable since I'm getting pretty sick of those.

Audrey did get on my nerves sometimes I'm not going to lie, but for the most part she was awesome. I loved loved loved that you don't see plots like this one much, even in our technology-based world. The main plot of the book is Audrey building an app to help her get into college since her family is poor. Just the fact that she's not popular, yet also not hipster, makes her a lot more interesting, too.

The subtle cute parts at the beginning were great for starting Aiden and Audrey's romance, but it seemed more like the actual crush evolved rather quickly about halfway through the book. Like all the sudden she was really surprised that she liked him even though she knew it the whole time. But otherwise it wasn't insta-love, which is another thing I enjoyed a break from.

Even past those little 'glitches' in the book, it was a fresh contemporary that gives me hope for love stories in this generation! I think Katie Sise is a talented author and I can't wait to see more from her!

This book hits shelves April 30th of 2013!

  1. Hmmm... that's a difficult question. I would probably make a really trivial app, like one to turn everything purple! I love purple :D

Great review! I'm on the tour for this one, so I have to post my review later, so I haven't read the book! Shhh, don't tell anyone! :D

  2. Right now I'm supposed to be writing an essay, not reading reviews, so I'd love an app that freezes time so I can have more hours in the day to do everything! Or just one that writes my essays for me. I'd be cool with that too :)

    1. OMG. YES. Essay-writing app. I should be writing an essay too but am not, so that would come in very handy.

  3. An instant wifi app. I have an ipod touch, so I can only get internet when there is wifi, and it would be oh so convenient if it were built in.

    1. Oh such great ones! I think i'd pick the 'what to read next' app...it's a constant struggle... Although I am equally lazy in the morning - I take breaks on the stairs and on couches as I get ready!

  6. I think I would make an app that was like a remote control for life so I could fast forward through the boring stuff lol.

  7. Hmm, that's tough. I'd probably do an app that would so something like either rewind, fast forward or pause life. I could definitely use all of those at different times : )
