The Dark Heroine by Abigail Gibbs & giveaway!

The sexiest romance you’ll read this year.
One moment can change your life forever...
For Violet Lee, a chance encounter on a darkened street draws her into a world beyond her wildest imaginings, a timeless place of vast elegance and immeasurable wealth – of beautiful mansions and lavish parties – where a decadent group of friends live for pleasure alone. A place from which there is no matter how hard Violet tries.
Yet all the riches in the world can’t mask the darkness that lies beneath the gilded surface, embodied in the charismatic but dangerous Kaspar Varn.
Violet and Kaspar surrender to a passion that transcends their separate worlds – but it’s a passion that comes at a price.

I’ve never really been a huge fan of vampire books and I thought I was done with them since Twilight, but The Dark Heroine has definitely opened me back up. These vampires were different right off the bat by admitting that they truly were monsters. They didn’t pretend to be something that they weren’t; they just asked Violet to see it from a logical point of view.

Kasper Varn is definitely one of the hottest vampires I’ve ever read about and I liked how it wasn’t love at first sight for him and Violet. Everything happened slowly, almost too slow at some parts because I knew there was so much more good stuff ahead. I really like that there was chapters from Kasper’s point of view too because I think he’s an interesting character and I liked to know what he was thinking, or what he thought about a situation.

As much as I liked this book there were a few parts I was disappointed with. I was happy about the slowness of their feelings growing, but I felt like they’d take a few steps forward and then get sent back a mile. That made it seem like their relationship was rushed instead of actually having the feelings grow over time.

The plot of the book was great in that I never knew what would happen next or how they'd work out situations. Also, the other creatures that were involved along with the vampire world I really applaud. There wasn’t a single werewolf that I read and that alone made me really happy since the two always go hand in hand these days.

I didn’t really agree with the book being like Fifty Shades of Grey since there was really only one true steamy scene, but don’t get me wrong all their encounters were definitely hot. Overall, I really liked this book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes vampires, fantasy, steamy scenes or just wants a good book to read that’ll keep you always guessing. I can’t wait for the next book to see where the new adventure ahead takes Kasper and Violet.
