Chronicling the rise of the Keepers, this is the stunning prequel to Andrea Cremer's internationally bestselling Nightshade trilogy!
Sixteen-year-old Ember Morrow is promised to a group called Conatus after one of their healers saves her mother's life. Once she arrives, Ember finds joy in wielding swords, learning magic, and fighting the encroaching darkness loose in the world. She also finds herself falling in love with her mentor, the dashing, brooding, and powerful Barrow Hess. When the knights realize Eira, one of their leaders, is dabbling in dark magic, Ember and Barrow must choose whether to follow Eira into the nether realm or to pledge their lives to destroying her and her kind.
With action, adventure, magic, and tantalizing sensuality, this book is as fast-paced and breathtaking as the Nightshade novels.
Monday night I had the pleasure of caravanning down to St. Paul with a few my close friends. We visited the indie children's bookstore Red Balloon Bookshop (The Bookcase's friend!) where they hosted Andrea Cremer's Rift event. Unfortunately, Minnesota is not her first tour stop anymore as she is off to bigger and better things in New York, but I was thrilled to hear that she was back in the cities for a Rift book signing. There, I learned of her new exciting projects! Let me share a little bit with you...
Andrea Cremer said she had the honor of co-writing a book with the famous David Levithan, an author of many well-received novels, his newest Every Day, and also an editor for The Hunger Games. Together they constructed the book Invisibility, a young adult novel about a boy who was born invisible, no one has ever been able to see him until one day he meets a special girl... Needless to say this book is already on my radar and I can't wait to read it! Its release date is estimated to be summer of 2013. Cremer also said that right now only Rift and Rise are scheduled, but she highly anticipates there being a third novel in the Rift (Nightshade prequel) series. And last but certainly not least, Cremer is coming out with a steam punk novel titled The Inventor's Secret, which is scheduled for release in the fall of 2013. *deep breath* She's a busy girl! Like many of you, I love Andrea Cremer's novels and am excited to see what she spins out next!
