Hocus Pocus Hotel by Michael Dahl- Event Recap!

Ever since it was built by the great magician Abracadabra, the hotel Tyler Yu lives in has had its share of mysterious events. Ghosts wandering the halls, a magician who vanishes into thin air – Ty can’t figure these things out on his own. But Charlie Hitchcock, with his photographic memory, might just be the partner the school bully needs. Together, they’ll solve magical mysteries beyond your wildest imagination.

Last week The Bookcase had the honor of hosting one Michael Dahl's first Hocus Pocus Hotel events on his fall tour! It was a nice event and I learned some fun facts about the book!!

Michael Dahl and his book!

He was very enthusiastic to meet his fans and had nice
conversations with each of them! I love when authors can do that!
The Hocus Pocus Hotel is actually only the nickname for the hotel, which is called Abracadabra and it's a place for retired magicians! I can only imagine the craziness that must go down there.

When questioned about what type of magic is in the book, Dahl simply said, "magic that could actually happen". He was also asked why there was magic in the book, and he said because authors write about what they like. True that!

And lastly, this awesome hotel was inspired by one that used to be in Minnesota called The Hampshire Arms, found in Minneapolis. Spooky!!

I anticipate this to be a great autumn read as we prepare ourselves for Halloween and the colder, darker, spookier months of the year!
